Call of Duty going subscription based but not in the way you think

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Activision will be releasing Call of Duty Elite along side MW3. It will be a subscription based service that allows you to stat track similar to the way you can track your Halo stats on Bungie.net. It will also include free map packs before they are released to the public.
